Does French Montana have more hits than Kendrick Lamar?
Rap star French Montana has given this quarantine a bit of Hip- Hop entertainment claiming he could “outshine” Kendrick Lamar if they were both headlining a festival. French Montana stated, "I mean, honestly, I could go against anybody. You could put somebody like Kendrick Lamar next to me on
the same stage at a festival,” after being asked who he could go up against for a
rap battle. Montana was on a Skype interview with Complex News Speedy
Morman on April 18th.
To dig a deeper hole, the rapper went on about his ability to outshine Lamar
because he has more hits than him which is untrue. “I might outshine him not because I’m a better rapper...or whatever it is, it’s just I got more hits, you know what I’m saying, Kendrick Lamar got more
albums he got masterpieces”, he stated confidently. After having many people outraged by his comments towards Kendrick Lamar, he tweeted on April 21st: "I love Kendrick! that’s not just for Kendrick that’s to anybody they put in front of me, and ask me that same question what u want me to say lol ? It should be your attitude too," he wrote. "If u think any less of yourself don’t blame it on the next person who don’t ! set it up."
Rappers like Young Thug and Gunna joined in to shut Montana down. The feud
shifted immediately when Montana put up a post-and-delete of Young Thug
wearing a skirt in his “no stylist” video.
On April 22nd, Thug responded on his Instagram story:
"Listen, bro. Get out of your feelings. I’m only speaking from an artist
standpoint. You do not have nowhere near more hits than Kendrick Lamar,
whatsoever. You probably won’t ever have more hits than buddy. So, get that
out of your head. I don’t know what you’re taking, but get that out of your
head. I wore that dress in your video just to show love and support because I
only put that dress on when it’s real...when I feel like it’s real love or I feel like
this what it’s supposed to be. That’s the only time I do that type of shit. ’Cause
I thought it was love.”
Shortly afterwards, Thug was seen in a video calling Montana a “bitch ass
n****” saying he was going to call Meek Mill to send him a video of Montana
getting knocked out.
There are more rappers chiming in than the rapper who is being called out.
Lamar has not posted on twitter or Instagram since March 15. He hasn’t made
any indication that he knows what is going on or that he even cares. According
to XXL, Kendrick has 48 Billboard Hot 100 songs compared to French
Montana's 17 hits. The numbers speak for themselves.
